Laurence Meredith is the author of nearly 40 books about classic cars and motor racing, his passion for this subject has also manifested itself in the production of a series of oil paintings. Many of these paintings focus upon Porsche's successes in the Le Mans 24 Hours, and capture not only the excitement and speed of the cars but the brave people who drive them. A Porsche owner himself, Meredith has travelled to many of the world's racing circuits, filling several sketchbooks with notes and drawings that form the subject of his paintings. Photographs have also proved to be an invaluable aid for the reproduction of detail work.
Meredith's paintings combine representation with his love of impressionism, and convey a real feel for events that he believes formed part of a true golden age of motor sport.
Meredith's already well-known landscapes focus on his home county of Herefordshire and the scenery of Wales. His impressionist style is unique and painted with the same passion and feel he has for his car paintings.
